From Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger:
NEW YORK - Embattled Giants WR Plaxico Burress got up early this morning. Maybe to beat the traffic here. Or perhaps, better yet, to beat the attention.
Burress arrived at the 17th precinct police staton on 51st Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenue at 8:03 a.m. today to turn himself in to the authorities after Friday night's self-shooting at the Latin Quarter night club a few blocks away.
Burress arrived in a black SUV, wearing a black blazer, jeans and a collared shirt. One accessory he didn't have was a pair of crutches. Burress was walking ably, an indication the gunshot wound he suffered was as minor as reported by the team and his lawyer, Ben Brafman, who escorted Burress into the station this morning.
Burress didn't respond to one person who yelled, "Plaxico," and didn't acknowledge any of the reporters on the scene. According to police, he's expected to remain inside for about an hour. There are also rumblings he might leave the building in handcuffs.
Brafman said Burress will plead not guilty to criminal possession of a weapon.
A Raider in '09 for sure.
It ranks up there with the time Kazu Sazaki (closer for the Mariners in 2001)injured his shoulder "falling on his luggage" as he carried them up a flight of stairs.

has to rank up there as one of the dumbest things i have ever heard. you make all that money and you cant hire a bodyguard to carry a gun? i'm sure he will get a suspended sentence because he is a football player. he will serve a four game or maybe even a year suspension and get signed by another team because he can play football, just like the rain maker himself pacman jones and ray lewis. our juducal system is such a joke as long as you have money and a talent that people will pay to see no jail time for you.
