Chargers fifth-round pick will miss 2012 season

Johnnie Troutman was a coveted commodity by the San Diego Chargers.

How much so? So much that Troutman will miss the entire 2012 season after undergoing surgery for a torn pectoral muscle, but the Chargers drafted the Penn State guard in the fifth-round on Saturday anyway.

"We wanted the player," General Manager A.J. Smith told the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Troutman suffered the injury two weeks ago while working out, and had surgery last Thursday. His recovery time is expected to take at least five months.Troutman also had a knee issue that flared up at the Senior Bowl.

On Monday, the Chargers added veteran guard Rex Hadnot.
