STRENGTHS - Brewer shows the ability to get into coverage well and footwork on the backpedal is solid and tends to be able to change direction well. He showed the ability to get around the corner quickly on the blitz. His solid closing speed enables him to make the tackle. Tends to play okay coverage when he is in the game.
WEAKNESSES - Brewer does not have the quickness or the explosive ability to go sideline to sideline quickly, and his lack of initial burst does not allow him to get a great jump on the route when playing off man. Needs to become a better tackler, does not wrap him and tends to avoid the blow up hit. Has a tendency to get faked out easily by the receiver when running routes.
SUMMARY - Brewer does not have the athleticism necessary to be an NFL caliber player. While he has okay footwork and shows the ability to cover, he is not a guy that plays great coverage and will get beat a lot at the next level due to his lack of reaction combined with his lack of quickness and the receivers ability to bait him on fakes. As the same with his Clemson counterparts, he struggles to wrap up and often times will miss the tackle because of it. Overall Brewer is a good college player, but lacks the talent to start in the NFL, which is why I would not draft him.
