SUMMARY - Barnes is a huge man that has the natural strength to occupy multiple blockers at the LOS and flashes first step quickness, but displays little else in his game that translates to the next level. Not surprising considering his height, he consistently gets too high off the snap and is easily locked onto and driven off the POA by significantly smaller blockers. Once he gets his momentum moving forward he struggles to break down in space or change directions effectively, and also lacks the speed and agility to get involved in plays outside of his area. Because of his poor agility, hand usage and leverage, he is not effective as a pass rusher and at Georgia Tech was generally subbed out in long yardage situations. His only hope to sustain an NFL career will be to lose 50+ lbs. and switch to 5-tech DE for a 34 defense, as he is too exposed inside by his height and lack of lower body flexibility.
