NFL Draft: Steals in the RB class

Who could be the next Arian Foster?

STRENGTHS - Smith gets off the LOS quickly and either into his route or will give you a physical block. He has a solid ability to block both at the line and in space and will fight until the whistle is blown. He has very good hands, and when he can catch the ball in stride his quickness enables him to get solid yardage after the catch.

WEAKNESSES - While Smith has the ability to gain YAC, he could improve his footwork and give him the ability to gain even more if he used some more moves in the open field. His route running needs to be crisper, he needs to cut better instead of rounding off his routes enabling DB or LB to maintain coverage on him much easier. Although he has good hands, he has the tendency to catch with his body, and does not appear to be a guy that can go up and get the ball. Needs to do a better job of covering up the ball in space.

SUMMARY - Smith did not consistently see the field over the course of his senior season. Some games he was on the field quite a bit and other games he did not get as many opportunities. He has the quickness off the line and when he catches the ball in stride over the middle he is able to gain solid yardage. He is a physical player and will fight throughout the entire play and will not let up. His route running needs to be much crisper as he does not show the moves to create much separation from the DB or LB. Overall, Smith is a solid receiver to have coming off the bench in college, but he is simply not an NFL caliber receiver.
