JOSH HILL CB, California

STRENGTHS - Hill is well put together and is a nicely built player. He has excellent anticipation and closing ability as a zone defender. He is a highly competitive run defender with the ability to make the big hit to knock the ball out of the runner's hands. He is a good overall athlete with good range for the position. He takes good angles to the ball in the air & as a run support player. He is a solid tackler within the box and on the move in space. Hill is a very good tackler and he has real value to consider as a special teams coverage player at the next level.

WEAKNESSES - He has marginal size with very little growth potential to further develop for the position at the next level. He lacks short area quickness and elite recovery speed. He does not show the ability to cover a lot of ground quickly and is a better run defender than pass defender. He is a very bad match up against a tight end in man-to-man coverage due to his lack of height.

SUMMARY - At 5'10", he has an undersized frame with very little growth potential to further develop for the position at the NFL level. However, he is a great competitor and is a player that can be relied upon to physically give it all. He is a good overall athlete with good range in his play. He is a highly productive zone coverage defender with five career interceptions. He has a real knack for closing fast on the ball and finishing plays. He is also a very competitive run defender and he plays bigger than his listed size on contact as he has had great production as far as leading the team in tackles as a senior. He will need to be a special teams ace to make it at the next level. He deserves strong sixth-round draft consideration by a team looking for safety and special teams value.
