CHUCK JACOBS WR, Utah State

STRENGTHS - Jacobs has a nice frame that has the ability to add weight. He shows a good short area burst when the ball is in his hands. He can be effective in the return game on both punt and kick off. He has explosive capabilities that shine in his straight line speed and the wiggle to exploit open areas an make defensive backs miss tackles.

WEAKNESSES - Although he does show good athletic ability he does not have a great feel or vision when running with the ball. He can easily be tripped up by defenders due to a slender frame. On returns he consistently misses the hole and runs up the backs of his blockers. Another major concern is his inconsistent hands and his inability to be effective running thru traffic.

SUMMARY - After transferring from Laney Jr College, Chuck Jacobs made an immediate impact for the Aggies on both Offense and Special Teams. He has the explosive capabilities that be game changing and is an adequate route runner, although he does tend to be a bit slow in and out of his breaks. The size factor and his lack of on field awareness is concerning. He is a much better athlete than a football player at this point. He also struggles at time catching the ball and allows it into his body where it can pop out on medium size hits. Overall, Chuck Jacobs is worth a look as a free agent just of his athleticism and could make a practice squad do to upside on special teams.
