Cowboys fire Wade Phillips
Jerry Jones finally had a change of heart.
The Dallas Cowboys owner went from saying week after week that there would not be an in-season coaching change to firing Wade Phillips today.
The Cowboys were dominated 45-7 Sunday night by the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in a prime-time national television appearance. Jones lowered the boom on Phillips with the Cowboys reeling at 1-7 and surely destined for a losing season.
Speculation is that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will be named the coach on an interim basis. Of course, he’s done an underwhelming job since being hired to a $3 million a per year job. Stay tuned.
