From Todd Archer of The Dallas Morning News:
IRVING – The decision was made last month, but the Cowboys will officially part ways with cornerback Adam Jones today, the first day teams are allowed to waive players for the 2009 season.

The move will save the Cowboys $1 million against the 2009 salary cap because his four-year, $13.3 million deal did not have any guaranteed money. Jones' six-game suspension last season for an altercation at a Dallas hotel cost him roughly $247,000 in base salary in 2008 and roster and workout bonuses totaling $1.35 million in 2009-10.
In nine games, Jones was credited with 33 tackles by the coaches and tied for the team lead with 13 pass deflections. He did not intercept a pass and had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He averaged just 22.1 yards per kick return and 4.5 yards per punt return
