Darnell Dockett apologizes for incident with Kerry Rhodes

Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett has apologized to safety Kerry Rhodes after “a very heated argument at a very heatful time of the game” during last Sunday’s 7-6 loss to the New York Jets.

Dockett says he did not spit in the face of Rhodes, according to the Arizona Republic, and Rhodes has also said that did not happen.

It was a situation we totally didn’t agree on,” Dockett said. “I look at Kerry as one of my brothers.”

According to the report, Dockett then admitted the argument stemmed from the Cardinals’ decision to let the Jets score late in the game so they could regain possession of the ball and possibly win.

“It was something I don’t believe in. I didn’t understand,” Dockett said. “I am never, never going to lay down and quit. I’ve been playing football for over 20 years. I’ve given this organization, I’ve given Florida State, I’ve given my high school everything I’ve got. I play with passion and I’ll never quit. I play it to the whistle and I play it until the clock reaches zero.”

The Cardinals trailed 7-6 and needed a turnover or a Jets’ score to get the ball back. Instead, Jets running back Shonn Greene went down at the 1-yard line.

Arizona is now in the midst of an eight-game losing streak and that can bring out the worst in everyone.

“Two sides to every story! But everyone needs a escape goat! Everyone need to point the finger at some one. It won't be first or the last!” Dockett wrote on his Twitter account.

Yes, those escaped goats could provide clues. No doubt about it.
