From Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Derek AndersonAPAnderson is looking to re-claim the job he lost last season

Browns coach Eric Mangini gave quarterback Brady Quinn a slight edge heading into voluntary practices last month, but neither Quinn nor Derek Anderson will have an advantage heading into training camp Aug. 1.

“That was based on the off-season program leading up to that point,” said Mangini at the conclusion of mandatory minicamp Saturday. “I’d say that we’re going to go into training camp as [even].”

If either Quinn or Anderson did emerge as a front-runner after the minicamp, Mangini isn’t letting on. “You’re right - I’m not going to say it,” said Mangini.

Seems weird he would take this long to come out and claim nothing bad happened and it was all overblown. It's been almost a year.

This guy is the perfect example of Cadillac Arm,..... Chevette Head.

Kerry Collins isn't a better player than Young. But he is a better QB. He can mentally handle the challenges the job presents. Young is still stuck rehashing out stuff that happened to him a year ago after his momma called the police.

This guy appears to have Ryan Leaf disease...... not smart enough to play the position in the pros.

Young really needs to fire his agent. Letting him speak in public in any forum is just an unforgivable sin at this point.

Snake, I believe the proper spelling is "Plisskin". Check it out. Thought NY was great- LA was mediocre, at best.
Give my best to Season Hubley.

I'm not a Vince Young apologist. I'm firm in my belief that Kerry Collins should be the starter.

However... taking football out of the equation and viewing him as a regular man... I can see how it was all so embarrassing for him. Things DO sometimes get blown out of proportion, and there is no way to contain it. I think he may have tried to keep it contained by not speaking about it at the time. But like Sam, I wonder what good it's doing him to talk about it NOW. I think it's a desperate attempt to remain "relevant."

Just practice hard, VY. That's the only thing you can do.

Guy gets killed for ignoring the media, gets killed for giving a candid answer.

Before he's in the NFL his Wonderlic score gets leaked making him a national punchline. 2.5 years later the national media puts him on suicide watch. The guy's been lionized, had his struggles, and got some pretty rough breaks from the 24 hour news cycle. Not sure what the beef is with sitting down and giving candid answers to these questions.
