Delanie Walker says drunk driver killed his aunt, uncle

The aunt and uncle of San Francisco 49ers tight end Delanie Walker were killed early Monday morning driving out of New Orleans.

Walker took to his personal Twitter account today to write, “Alice and bryan young my aunt and uncle was killed on Monday at 5 am after the super bowl by a drunk.”

It’s tragic news that quickly puts in perspective the results of a game played hours before at the Superdome. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that a 26-year-old Houston woman was arrested following a fiery wreck that killed two unidentified people along I-10 in St. Charles Parish early Monday morning.

According to the report, Nechole Thomas was driving a 2002 Mercedes at a high rate of speed on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes at about 5:30 a.m. when she crashed into the behind of a 2012 Nissan Altima that was stopped on the shoulder.

Thomas survived with minor injuries and both cars burned. Two occupants of the Altima were killed and pronounced dead at the scene. Thomas has been arrested on two counts of vehicular homicide, DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle, according to the report.
