Dez Bryant defends himself against Skip Bayless

Dez Bryant has fired back at ESPN talking head Skip Bayless to defend himself after saying 2,000 receiving yards in one season was possible.

Bryant told ESPN Dallas earlier this week that he could “potentially” become the first player in NFL history to amass 2,000 receiving yards in one season, a mark the Detroit Lions’ Calvin Johnson fell 38 yards shy of in 2012.

Bryant went on to say that individual statistics were meaningless if Dallas was not “strapping up for the playoffs.”

Well, according to the Dallas Morning News, Bayless criticized Bryant on Wednesday, writing on Twitter: “Just when I thought it was safe to trust the ‘maturing’ Dez, he makes a ‘me’ statement about 2K yds instead of a ‘we’ about making playoffs.”

So, Bryant took to Twitter to defend himself against Bayless.

“My bad skip I forgot you and your buddy get paid to twist up stories whenever you already know the truth.”
“Correction…i was asked a question.. i didn’t predict anything…basically all i said was it was possible.”

The bottom line is if Bryant were to get 2,000 yards – or even come close – it would likely be a sign the Cowboys are losing a lot of ballgames. Because to get close to that kind of number the quarterback has to be throwing for the entire game just about all season long. Think Johnson would trade a couple hundred yards this past season for a lot more wins? The Lions would’ve been running in the fourth quarter instead of chucking it had they been winning more consistently.
