Draft buzz: Sammy Watkins an enticing option to trade up for

Though Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins isn't going to go No. 1 overall, he may just be atop a couple of teams' wish list as the first round of the NFL draft approaches.

The Texans figure to take either South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack or a quarterback with the first overall pick. From there, Watkins could be the guy that goes No. 2 — but not necessarily to the St. Louis Rams, holders of the pick.

According to a league source, at least two teams are looking into trading up for the chance to grab Watkins, which would presumably mean either trading with the Rams or the Jaguars at No. 3. Rams GM Les Snead has said before he'd be open to the option of trading back the No. 2 overall pick.

In this year's draft, which is deep at plenty of positions, more teams than usual could be looking to trade back.

Watkins is arguably the most complete receiver in an NFL draft since A.J. Green and Julio Jones were drafted in 2011. He's got blazing speed, jump ball ability and is a strong blocker.

As a junior in 2013, Watkins caught 101 passes for 1,464 yards and 12 touchdowns. Whichever team gets him will surely be happy about it.
