Dungy Sets Record For Playoff Appearances

The Colts secured a playoff berth with their 31-24 win over the Jaguars, helping coach Tony Dungy set the NFL record for most consecutive playoff appearances at 10. Dungy, who passed Hall of Fame coach Tom Landry (9), has brought the Colts to the playoffs in each of his seven seasons in Indy. He also led the Bucs to the playoffs in his last three seasons with Tampa (1999-2001).

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” Dungy told NFL Network’s Adam Schefter. “I never take the playoffs for granted, and to do it with this group seven times in a row really says a lot about Bill Polian, Jim Irsay, the organization they built, our assistant coaches and several of the guys who have been here for all seven. For me, it’s just, I feel so blessed to be around some really good players and good coaches. It’s a wonderful feeling.”

Here’s an updated look at the playoff picture. With the Colts now in, what it essentially means is that the Ravens, along with the three teams atop the AFC East (Jets, Dolphins and Patriots) will fight it out for the last two playoff spots — the AFC East division winner and the No. 6 wild card spot.
