Falcons sign linebacker Darin Drakeford

The Atlanta Falcons signed former Maryland linebacker Darin Drakeford.

The Falcons cut kicker Sergio Castillo to create a roster spot for Drakeford. Drakeford previously tried out for the New York Jets at training camp.

After going undrafted last year, Drakeford had practice squad stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts last year.

At Maryland, Drakeford recorded 171 tackles, 19 for losses, eight sacks, seven forced fumbles and one interception.
