Did you see what Chris Johnson did against the Lions last week? Well, Peterson is no rookie, and every game is must-win for the Vikings. Huge day for the NFL’s leading rusher. Derek Belch
Congratulations to last week’s top-picker: Dave. He got three correct – Thomas Jones, DeAngelo, and McNabb – and also was looking good there for awhile with Chris Johnson. Perhaps there is hope for someone to get six before the end of the year? This week’s Pick Six comes at the most important time of the fantasy season: playoffs. Some of you may still have a week (or two) to go, but for a lot of league’s, it’s do or die. Hopefully we get some league-wide pick-six-esque performances. Here’s a look at last week’s top six:
1. Brian Westbrook
2. DeAngelo Williams
3. Steve Slaton
4. Donovan McNabb
T5. Thomas Jones
T5. Mark Clayton
Other than Mark Clayton, no real surprises here. Given how terrible MacNabb played against Baltimore two weeks ago, he was due for a bounce-back effort. But 4 td’s? That was certainly unexpected. This week features some tough matchups for some of fantasy’s biggest names. For what it’s worth, I went 0-for-six last weekend. Hopefully this week produces a better result. Good luck to everyone this week, both in the Pick Six and your own leagues! My picks below:
Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona: Warner gets St. Louis, at home. Enough said.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota: Did you see what Chris Johnson did against the Lions last week? Well, Peterson is no rookie, and every game is must-win for the Vikings. Huge day for the NFL’s leading rusher.
Thomas Jones, RB, New York Jets: So hot right now. Gets San Francisco. Big game.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona: Boldin is Warner’s favorite red zone target, and, as we’ve mentioned, the Rams are awful.
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City: He ran for 198 last time he played Denver. Despite beating the Jets last week, the Broncos still surrendered a healthy number of rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis: Jackson ran well last week against a very good Dolphins run defense. Last time he was coming off a welcome-back game, he torched the Cowboys for three touchdowns. Brian Westbrook tore up Arizona last week, I don’t see why Jackson couldn’t do the same.
A few to be skeptical of… (only one right last week)
Sammy Morris, RB, New England: I wouldn’t expect more than 50 yards and a TD, which is about the going rate for the “number one” back in New England. The stat-leader changes every week. Start at your own risk.
Brett Favre, QB, New York Jets: A week after I put him in my top-six I’m putting him on the negative watch-list? I think the Jets lean on the run this weekend en route to a victory at San Francisco.
Bernard Berrian, WR, Minnesota: He’s certainly a big-play threat, but don’t forget that 99 of his yards last week came on one play. Minnesota is going to run, run, run this week.
