From Ed Werder of ESPN.com:

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress and quarterback Brett Favre plan to meet at an undisclosed location later this week to discuss the possibility of the former Packers and Jets quarterback renouncing his retirement from the NFL to play the 2009 season with the Vikings, according to a source with direct knowledge of discussions between the two parties.

There is a mutual understanding that sometime soon thereafter Favre will decide whether to sign with the Vikings. The team would expect him to participate fully in offseason minicamps and training camps, which he missed last year with the Jets.

Favre has not been working out and declined to have surgery to repair the torn biceps tendon that plagued him the final month of last season.

Favre may believe the injury can heal on its own as did a similar problem with his left shoulder while he played in Green Bay. Favre wanted to play for the Vikings last season, but the Packers specifically eliminated their NFC North rivals as a potential destination for the Green Bay icon.

I thought I heard somewhere that Favre was working out with a personal trainer. WHo knows, all in the fun of the pre-season Favre drama.

I'm guessing he signs, and ends up reporting for camps. Especially if the stories are true about his desire for revenge. Which i can believe.

Favre spent the last couple years in Green Bay out of the locker room in his own private office (Team player?). It's time to get reacquainted with Aaron Kampman two times this year.

@daniel-

Noted, thank you.

Also, please note that it is "Super Bowl" instead of "superbowl". Try not to let this happen again.

If the Vikings sign Favre, I will eternally renounce my fanship and shall never again root for the purple and gold.

Yes, Brett Favre, the guy who hasn't won back-to-back playoff games or a road playoff game since 1998 is going to lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl. Brett Favre is a loser, plain and simple, I can't wait until he returns to Lambeau and is booed into oblivion.

This after Favre sent a text message saying NO to Trent Dilfer when asked if he was considering playing this year. Besides being a vindictive diva, he's a liar too. Man, it's sad to see what he's become.

Hey folks: Has there ever been precedent for this type of apparent revenge for playing a season in the NFL? The NFL takes no prisoners. As marvelous as he is/was, I hope the guy doesn't get killed out there...

Thanks Ted---

You have ensured the Vi-Queens no have a legit QB after years of running jokes out there. I still believe Rodgers does not have it and his softness will be exposed (lots of empty numbers and not enough wins). I sure hope Brohm have a good off-season he will be needed this year.

Double D:

Ever consider stand up? This is Thompson's fault, some people are just so clueless it borders on being hilarious.

Come on, Brett. Give it up. Looks like 2 wins for the Pack. His 3 picks will offset Peterson's 125 yeards rushing. The DBs in GB are licking their chops.

Oh like a child that won't give up their favourite blankie that has it, please give up the pigskin Mr. Favre.

Should of went out as a legend in 2007, retired as a Packer. What a shame how you will be remembered Brett.
