From Adam Schefter of NFL.com:
A missive that the New York Jets, New England Patriots and some fantasy football owners will not want to hear.
Despite making the trip to Miami, San Francisco running back Frank Gore will not play Sunday versus the Dolphins, a team official said Saturday night.
Gore has been battling an injury that the 49ers already have determined will keep him out of the lineup. With Gore sidelined, San Francisco is expected to start running back DeShaun Foster. For further depth, the 49ers signed running back Thomas Clayton off their practice squad.
The moment the 49ers did that, it was another sign that they were not optimistic that Gore would be available. Initially, the 49ers were hoping that Gore could test the ankle in pregame warmups, but it was bad enough that he didn’t even do that; the team simply made the decision to deactivate him even before Sunday.
