Jim Harbaugh says he knows nothing about potential trade to Browns

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh issued a denial that he declined a potential trade from his current employer to the Cleveland Browns.

“For the record, I echo Jed York’s comment…’isn’t true,' Harbaugh told ComcastSportsnet Bay Area. "I know nothing about a trade with the Cleveland Browns and us involving me.”

Pro Football Talk reported that a trade was agreed to where the 49ers would have received several draft picks, but Harbaugh wanted to stay with the 49ers. Harbaugh and the 49ers haven't been able to agree on the terms of a contract extension. Harbaugh has two years left on a five-year, $25 million contract.

49ers owner Jed York wrote on Twitter: "Report isn't true."

The Browns didn't deny the Pro Football Talk report, which was confirmed by ESPN.

“Browns did indeed make a run at Jim Harbaugh that reached a serious stage, sources confirm substance of @ProFootballTalk report,” ESPN's Chris Mortensen wrote on Twitter.
