For four decades, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have entertained millions and made billions as the leaders of the makeup-clad rock band KISS.
Now, after performing in sold-out arenas for years, Simmons and Stanley are branching out into a vastly different arena, entering the world of professional football. Simmons and Stanley will own an Arena Football League team that will be in Anaheim, Calif., and be known as the LA Kiss, per USA Today.
“The whole idea of an alternative to what has perhaps become a corporate sport is very intriguing, and resonates with us,” Stanley said. “We’ve always tried to be a band that relates to everybody, and the AFL is built on that whole premise.”
Simmons and Stanley aren't the first classic rockers to own an Arena League team as Jon Bon Jovi once had a stake in the Philadelphia Soul.
