I just spoke with a source who informed me that free agent safety Jim Leonhard, who was in New York visiting with the Jets over the weekend, has left without signing a contract.
Leonhard started 13 regular season games for the Ravens last year, including three starts in the post-season. The four-year veteran, who has also drawn considerable interest from Philadelphia after the departure of safety Brian Dawkins, was hoping to reach an agreement with the Jets and head coach Rex Ryan--Leonhard’s defensive coordinator in Baltimore.
More on this story as it develops.Jerry Angelo--go get him. We need a safety, and Sharper isn't the answer.
How do you guys think he'd fit in with the Pack? I love seeing the sign, "Home of Jim Leonard" when driving through Tony, WI on Hwy. 8. You can never have too many heady players.
Come on over to the Eagles
Man, boilermakerjim, I would love to see Jim in a Packers uniform, but sadly I just don't ever see the Packers being smart enough to make the move to sign him.
boilermakerjim:
I don't see Ted going after Leonhard. IMO he's too small to play strong safety. And you're not gonna bench Collins after he went to the Pro Bowl. So where does he fit in? I just can't see it.
A 3-4 SAFETY. NOT A BAD WAY TO START A NEW DEFENSE AND A PR.OH! AND CONSISTENT
We just lost Brian Dawkins, Lito Sheppard and Sean Considine - c'mon down Mr. Leonhard!
To bad the Bears don't sign any useful free agents...
Lets go Leonhard come to philly we need u!!
the eagles need to sign houshmanzadeh or lavereous coles or trade for BOLDIN
The Eagles have a lot of work to do to replace Dawkins and Buckhalter.
