Marshawn Lynch in Seattle to Finalize New Deal With Seahawks

It appears that the Seattle Seahawks have been able to reel in their star running back for another season according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Marshawn Lynch is flying to Seattle on Friday to ink what is reportedly a one-year, $11 million deal. The contract appears to be constructed from mostly a $9 million signing bonus, with the rest being $2 million in base salary and other bonuses.

The Seahawks’ front office will be present for the meeting, including owner Paul Allen. Sources are confident that Lynch will complete the deal while in Seattle.

There existed much debate over the course of the season about whether or not Lynch would return to the gridiron after the 2014 season. Speculation reached a boiling point following Super Bowl XLIX, in which ‘Beast Mode’ infamously was not handed the ball on the one-yard line to score the go-ahead touchdown.

Lynch himself told a Turkish television station that prior to the play he “was expecting the ball,” but also went on to reiterate that football is “a team sport.”

Lynch has been one of the most productive running backs in the league since joining the Seahawks in 2010 via a trade from the Buffalo Bills. He has currently rushed for 5,930 yards and 54 touchdowns with the Seahawks.
