Myers wants to stay with Texans

Free agent center Chris Myers says he wants to stay with the Houston Texans, and dismissed reports that surfaced at the NFL Combine of the Green Bay Packers' interest in him.

“News to me, man,” Myers told 610 AM in Houston in a story picked up on the Texans website. “I don’t know what was going on. I’m just like anyone else reading that type of stuff, but it is what it is. In the long run, I want to be here in Houston, so that’s what I’ve been telling everybody when everyone asks me stuff, and that’s what it sums up to be. I want to be here. I want to see things through, and that’s the way it is. So that’s kind of the bottom line of my thinking.”

Myers' response was from a question as to whether the Packers discussed him with agent Drew Rosenhaus at the NFL Combine. If they did, of course, that would be tampering. But we all know that none of that goes on during the period between the Super Bowl and the start of free agency.

The bigger issue for the cap-snug Texans, of course, is how to take care of everybody they want to take care of among their own free agents - namely Mario Williams, restricted free agent Arian Foster and, of course, Myers.
