Oklahoma State Wide Receiver Dez Bryant
Dez Bryant: No. 1, WR, 6-2, 215
Bryant is patient coming off the line of scrimmage and almost lulls defenders asleep with his first couple of steps. But he does a great job dropping his hips and exploding out of his breaks for a guy his size. He exhibits impressive balance as a route runner and always seems to have his feet under him when asked to change directions. He understands how to set up corners and work his way into soft spots in zone coverage. Bryant's first step is more quick than fast and it takes him a bit to get going. But he is a powerful runner in the open field with the long strides to get behind a secondary. He does a great job high-pointing the ball and uses his long arms and leaping ability to consistently win jump-ball situations.
He exhibits strong hands and knows how to secure catches away from his frame. He's so physical off of the line that he's rarely asked to beat press coverage at the college level and will need to learn to handle corners who aren't afraid to play bump coverage at the next level. Bryant missed the majority of his senior season for NCAA infractions and has some character concerns, but the talent is there and he looks like the premier wide receiver prospect in the nation who has an ability to develop into a No. 1 wideout.
Grade: 7.0
