Patriots Tickets Are Most Expensive On Secondary Market For NFL Divisional Round

The fans of the New England Patriots are used to providing a home field advantage in the NFL playoffs and if ticket prices on the secondary market mean anything, it may be the most jacked up crowd in the NFL’s Divisional Round. Their opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs, extended their winning streak to 11 games after dominating their AFC Wild Card Round matchup against the Houston Texans on the road. The Chiefs led from the first play of the game to the last, returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown en route to a 30-0 blowout win. The Chiefs now have to travel to Gillette Stadium on Saturday, January 16th to face the No. 2 seed in the AFC. With a bye week, the Patriots rested some of their ailing players that provide depth to both the linebacking corp and offensive line. The Patriots will also have the services of a major cog on offense, as wide receiver Julian Edelman returns from nearly a 10-week absence. Of the four games being played this week, Patriots tickets are the most expensive according to ticket aggregator TiqIQ.com. The average ticket price is $418.08 with a get-in price of $166, which is less than they were after the final regular season game. On January 4th the average ticket price was $440.43 and rose slightly to $449.40 on January 10th (the day after the Chiefs victory). In January, the average ticket price reached a high of $468.08 on the 12th but has dropped $50 through this week. It is the only matchup in the Division Round that has an average ticket price over the $400 level, as the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks matchup ranks second with an average ticket price of $390.15 and a get-in price of $156. Patriots fans outside of the local area can book a Boston flight through Hipmunk.com for Saturday afternoon’s game. Hipmunk also has available Boston hotels starting from $99 per night, which provides multiple viable options to get to and from the stadium. Saturday’s matchup will be the only Patriots home game of the postseason unless the Denver Broncos fall to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
