I expect the comments section to be buzzing today because the moment we have all been waiting for is finally here.  It’s time for the playoffs!  While last night’s game may have been meaningless in terms of the NFL playoffs, the Jags/Texans showdown had serious implications in the world of fantasy football.  How many of you guys came out of last night’s game on the right side of the action?  If anyone has a good story to share, I want to hear about it.  Here is an example of how my evening went:  I went into the Monday night game up 7 points with nobody left to play.  My opponent had MJD locked, stocked and ready to end my playoff hopes (it took a three game winning streak to get this opportunity).  Needless to say, I spent three and a half hours sweating bullets as the Texans’ defense shut down Jones-Drew, paving the way for a fantasy playoff birth.  In case you were curious, I’m sending a bottle of champagne and a personal thank you card to Houston’s front office today for an outstanding performance.

That being said, let’s get down to business:

PICK HIM UP

Davone Bess    WR    Miami Dolphins:  Last week’s wide receiver recommendation was Harry Douglas of the Atlanta Falcons, who caught 3 passes for 13 yards and 1 score on Sunday at San Diego.  The numbers may not have been impressive, but the touchdown made the day a success.  This week we are going with a more reliable option, Dolphins WR Davone Bess.  Bess’ value has skyrocketed the past two weeks due to a season-ending knee injury suffered by former starter Greg Camarillo.  Needless to say, Bess is making the most of his opportunity.  On Sunday at St. Louis he caught 6 passes for 84 yards, upping his two week total since the Camarillo injury to 11 grabs for 171 yards.  Quarterback Chad Pennington is beginning to target Bess more in the Dolphins passing attack, giving him ample opportunities to rack up the fantasy statistics.  If you are in desperate need of some wide receiver help, or have some dead weight on your bench, pick up Bess to strengthen your receiving corp.  The Dolphins remaining schedule includes the Bills, 49ers, Chiefs and Jets.  I figured you would like that.

Picked up Bess last week.

Not sure if this has been asked yet. Should we be dropping Burress? If so, what do you think about picking up Toomer?

Jackie, wait until later today to drop Buress. The Giants are expected to announce their decision regarding his future.

Most likely, he should be dropped for Toomer or Hixon. Grab Hixon if he's available.

Great job snagging Bess

Dude - you are so right! It's always the good fantasy teams that sweat it out on Monday nights. I was up by 30 going against Andre Johnson and MJD. After that first AJ 30 yard TD and hearing Kornheiser say "That was too easy!" I was stressed. 3 1/2 hours later all was well (thanks to Slaton going off) and MJD held in check but try going to sleep after that game. Ambien anyone?

Thawville: let me tell you what i was NOT doing last night: sleeping. After i eeked out that victory i went on a two hour trash talk rampage.

Haha, right before I read this post, I dropped Trent Edwards (he was my backup QB behind Brees) and picked up Bess.

My regular season still has one week to go, and I'm playing the #1 ranked team. If I beat them, I finish the regular season top of the standings and enter the playoffs as the #1 seed. And it's all down to the advice I've received on this website... Slaton, DeSean, Breaston, the list is endless. And hopefully Bess can step up and fill the Plaxico-sized void in my roster!

Hey Joe,

In regards to Bess, do you feel he's a better option than Ginn? I already have Ginn, but he's been spotty at best.

London: glad we could help. nice move picking up Bess and good luck to you next week. I love hearing stories about you guys doin well

Jason: I still like Ginn since he has more game experience under his belt. Both should be decent options down the stretch with the soft schedule that miami is lucky enough to have

Pick 2:
Colston
Marshall
Moore
Edwards
Gage
Avery

I'm leaning toward Marshall and Moore, but Colston played well against ATL last time (so did Moore) and seemed to be targeted more last week (but Moore got 5th straight game with a TD). I'm going against Brees, so should I start both Colston and Moore, to cancel out a big game from Brees? What do you think?

Joe,
I was up 15 points with no one left and my opponnet had Daniels. Good thing Sage is not Matt Schaub. On a side note, we play a defensive player and a guy in our league has Mario. His win due to Mario's massive night altered the playoff matchups and now I have to play the point leader. I guess I shouldn't complain becuase I have a "healthy" B West and S Jax ready to make a run, pun intended, at the title. Keep up the good work, I grabbed Bess and will probably start him over Kevin Curtis this week. Thanks

Joe,
Looking for a b/u WR for the playoffs (week 15 & 16). Please rank the following:

Avery
Bess
Hixon
M. Jones

As always, thanks for the great work.

I needed O-Dogg Daniels to have 27 yards (decimal scoring) to give me a first round bye. Not too much to ask, right? Well, I missed the first round bye by .11 points. Nice.

I needed 38 yards from Mercedes Lewis to win the week, he got 37, I tied my oppenent with the 2nd highest score of the week. As such, I now need to win my final game to make the playoffs. Couldn't throw one cheap 2 yard pass to him late!
