It’s Tuesday which means waiver wires around the country are opening up and ready to see some action. Here are two guys to keep your eye on this week if you need a good spot start or are looking to add some depth to your roster. In addition, I apologize for not being able to answer your questions yesterday. I was traveling back from the Pittsburgh/New York game and had limited wireless access. However, I’m back in the office today, so feel free to launch anything you have in mind my way. On a side note, did anyone else see Penn State take down OSU this weekend? Should I gamble and book my ticket to Miami this week? Several alumni have been putting the pressure on me. Thoughts?
PICK THEM UP
Ted Ginn, Jr. WR Miami Dolphins: After Ginn’s coming out party this past Sunday, look for him to be the trendy waiver wire pickup of the week. Through six games this season, Ginn had caught only 20 passes for 177 yards and no touchdowns. What a difference a game makes. T.G. carved up the Buffalo secondary two days ago, catching 7 passes for a career high 175 yards in the Dolphins 25-16 win over the Bills. Miami has desperately been waiting for one of their wide outs to step up and become a down field threat, and Ginn just took the first step towards becoming that guy. However, fantasy owners need to limit their expectations. Remember, Chad Pennington and his average right arm are still under center, and Ginn’s body of work to date has been less than impressive. Although this performance should increase the amount of targets Ginn sees on a weekly basis, don’t expect consistent production from a guy who has 2 touchdowns in 23 career games.
Nate Washington WR Pittsburgh Steelers: Washington has been playing huge as of late, meaning you should add him to your roster if you have a dead-beat you can afford to drop. After not seeing any action in the first two games of the year, Washington has been on a terror, catching 16 passes for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns in five games. In addition, N.W. has scored in each of his last three contests, including a 65 yard bomb this past Sunday against the Giants. If the refs don’t flag Pittsburgh for a questionable holding call in the second half, he would have scored another touchdown, as he had the New York secondary eating his dust. While he will most likely not be the type of receiver to get you 8+ catches every Sunday, Washington is the Steelers’ main deep threat and has been excelling in the role. The return of Santonio Holmes will help to roll coverage away from Washington, freeing up the middle to deeper parts of the field for him to showcase his speed and get open. Pick Him Up.
Matt: I wouldnt trade for LJ in any situation. It looks like he is going to get suspended, and even if/when he does return, the Chiefs don't have a great ground game. Plax for LJ is way too much.
What do you think a good value for Plax would be (I don't need him I have Roddy and Marshall as my two WR's)? I could really use the help at QB (I have Edwards, Hasselbeck).
Joe, speaking of LJ, is it finally time to cut bait on this guy? Is he coming back and when he does, will he play? I know the Chiefs look awful, but they play Denver & San Diego in the first 2 rounds of fantasy playoffs. Those are some cushy matchups, especially considering what LJ did to Denver the first time around.
Also, what is your take on Ronnie Brown? His matchups also look great for the fantasy playoffs - SF & KC in weeks 15 & 16. However, his numbers are dropping as the wildcat is getting crushed.
I agree w/ the Ginn pick-up but Washington has a tough game vs. Pitt, but after that the schedule does seem to get a lot easier. I picked up Antonio Bryant from Tampa last week, he seems to have a good match-up again w/ KC and seems like a preferred receiver for Garcia. I'll be busy all week, but can u offer your advice on picking 2 RB's out of Ronnie Brown @Den, Mike Turner @Oak and Clinton Portis vs. Pitt?? Thanx
Joe, I would not book anything til after next weekend's battle at Kinnick. I am slightly biased since I went to school there, but the Hawks are gonna be the most physical team your Lioness' have faced. And good luck stopping Shonn Greene! America loves Joe Pa, but will the computers?
Jon: I'd put LJ on the bench and leave him there. No telling when or if he will be back. I wouldnt worry about Brown, but he certainly isnt the type of guy you can count on week in and week out.
Hawk: Turner and Portis would be my picks
Wes: a hawkeye fan huh? maybe you would feel comfortable readin former Hawkeye Matt Bowen's articles. I let him know what Im going to tell you now: there is no derailing the PSU train. I'm not sure Iowa fans are going to want to watch that game next week
would Rivers for Chris Johnson and Randy Moss be worth it?
Joe: What do you think of Cotchery for Hightower? Is Cotchery's shoulder and the Jets' inconsistence going to be an issue going forward?
Joe,
Is Braylon going to be a bust for the rest of the season?
I need a RB so i might be trading Jennings for Braylon and Thomas Jones.
WOuld it be a good trade?
should i pick up felix jones off waivers for insurance in case one of my backs goes down. i have peterson, ronnie brown, jamal lewis, and rhodes
Frank: Yes, but only if you have another reliable QB.
Paul: that's not a bad deal, as long as you are ok at WR. Hightower has good potential, its just a matter of Arizona using him more often.
John: I wouldnt give up both of those guys for Jones. while edwards has been bad, Jennings has been a stud. If you are willing to give up both WRs, I'd target a better and more reliable RB.
Al: if you have a player you can afford to drop, I would pick up Jones. The guy is too good to be sitting on waivers.
Joe,
Thanks for the advice. But I am only giving up Jennings..
I will be getting Braylon and Jones for him.
My bad Joe. That deal is much better! Edwards is a downgrade, but has potential and Jones should be relatively consistent as a RB2.
I am looking for depth on my roster and currently have Domenik Hixon and Eddie Royal whom I don't think much about using. Should I drop them for these two guys?
Joe,
I have that same deal that "Frank" talked to earlier, but I have Rivers and would be getting the other two guys. Would my back up be ok for me the rest of the year at qb? I have McNabb and Shaub.
Also looking into a deal to send Rivers and Ward, for Cutler and Graham. Which deal would you be more interested in?
Thanks,
Joe
Gotta start two of these guys at RB all of which a facing bad teams. Who should sit?
E. Graham @KC
R. Torain Mia
T. Hightower @StL
dawgpound: i'd drop Hixon for Washington
Benny: I like the deal where you get CJ and Moss. You already have Schaub and McNabb, so you are set at QB. Pull the Trigger!
Nor Cal: Wait until Sunday just to make sure Torain is playing. If he is, start him. If he doesnt, obviously go with Hightower
Hey Joe. I'm trying to upgrade my WR core as we head into the stretch. How much weight is Philip Rivers carrying right now? I've got Rodgers at QB also and I'm curious who you think I can get straight up for Rivers. There's a guy in our league with Marshall who could use some help at QB but I also don't want to go down to one QB on my roster. What do you think about me trading Rivers and one of my WR (Driver/Colston/Welker/Royal/Breaston/TO) for Marshall and Garard? Or is a straight up trade better? I'd really like to get Fitz but that person is weak at RB and I'm not willing to give up a RB going into the stretch (I have Portis/Forte/Slaton/Turner), although Washington and McFadden are FA in our league right now.
HELP!

Whats your take on this LJ situation? I want to trade for him but don't want him to get suspended long term or just flat out benched because the Chiefs give up on their season. I'm really just using him for depth and he has some matchups that look pretty good coming up, I already have Forte and LT but don't want Forte to hit that rookie wall and he has some tough games coming up. The team that has him needs some recievers, do you think Plax for him straight up is worth it?
