The trend of trying to find basketball players to play the tight end position in the NFL continues, as the San Francisco 49ers are going to take a look at a power forward from Bemidji State in Minnesota.
According to the St. Cloud Times, Zach Noreen met general manager Trent Baalke while he was in town watching his daughter play basketball for the school last February. Earlier this month Baalke reached back out and invited him to the minicamp.
Noreen was actually thinking of playing this upcoming football season for Bemidji State, since he has a semester left to graduate and hasn't exhausted his NCAA eligibility yet, but decided he couldn't turn down the rookie minicamp opportunity.
The last time he played in a football game was in a section final. His last catch was a touchdown.
