The Michael Vick era in Philadelphia could be over.
The quarterback remains sidelined with a concussion and has not been cleared to return although he has made progress in recent weeks. Eagles coach Andy Reid originally said Vick would be the team’s starter when he returned.
He reversed course today. Hours after it was released that Reid had fired defensive line coach Jim Washburn, he dropped more big news naming rookie Nick Foles the starter for the remainder of the season, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Foles performed well Sunday night in the Eagles’ 38-33 loss at Dallas. Foles completed 22 of 34 passes for 251 yards and one touchdown with the offense missing top playmakers DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy.
Now, Reid will see what Foles can do in what will likely be his final four games as coach of the Eagles. Those above him probably don’t mind the move one bit.
