Troubled Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has agreed to enter an NFL substance abuse program as part of an agreement to have felony drug charges dismissed in Alabama, according to his lawyer.

Dareus was excused from training camp to attend a court hearing.

Dareus is facing felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after being stopped by a state trooper on May 5.

The charges can be dismissed and possibly removed from his record if the Pro Bowl defensive lineman completes the program.

Dareus is on the non-football injury list after not pasing the Bills' conditioning test.
