The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a young, reserve option behind Doug Martin in place after they were able to work out a deal with LeGarrette Blount.
Joel Corry reports Blount signed a one-year deal with the Bucs worth $1.75 million. Martin will receive a base salary of $1.25 million with a workout bonus of $150,000 and a reporting bonus of $350,000.
As Corry notes, the figure will allow Blount to make better than the low tender of $1.323 million that he could have been given as a restricted free agent. In fact, it’s a little more than the average between the low tender and the second round RFA tender of $2.023 million.
That’s a good deal less than the first-round tender and there had been some speculation Blount would receive.
