The reported $27 million extension that Tom Brady got from the New England Patriots was a little misleading.
It also came with a $30 million signing bonus, according to a league source.
Brady got the $30 mil up front and also took a $1 million base salary for the 2013 season in order to save the Patriots some cap space in exchange for extending his deal through 2017.
Brady will have a salary cap number of $13.8 million for 2013 and $14.8 million for 2014 as his base salary jumps to $2 million that year.
In all, Brady's new extension is worth of $57 million to run over the next five seasons.
