After a down season with Houston in 2013, Matt Schaub will still be paid handsomely in his new home in Oakland.
According to a league source, Schaub is guaranteed $8 million in 2014, though that is less than the $10 million he was due if he stayed with the Texans. After being traded to the Raiders, Schaub restructured his deal slightly, but will still pocket $8 million this season.
That number will be his cap figure in 2014, and he has a chance to earn an additional $3 million in performance-based bonuses, such as being named to the Pro Bowl, playing a certain amount of time and reaching the playoffs and making a Super Bowl appearance.
In 2015, Schaub will carry a cap figure of $5.5 million, which is also his base salary. He'll once again have a chance to earn $3 million in performance-based bonuses.
The restructured deal nixed the 2016 season, which will make him a free agent then instead.
