Brian Banks, the one-time high school football star who spend five years in prison on a rape charge that proved false, will get the opportunity to resume his football career, according to CBS2 in Los Angeles.
Banks has signed a contract with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League as he seeks to restart a once promising football career derailed when a former high school classmate lied about him raping her, leading to a conviction and prison sentence. Banks made national news when his name was finally cleared after he taped the accuser saying she had made up the story.
Banks, a linebacker, had tryouts with a handful of NFL teams, but found no takers, so he heads to the UFL in what is probably a good move that allows him to shake off the rust and play pro football in a league that is a couple of notches below the NFL as he begins his quest.
