If Jonathan Cooper needed a reason to push himself further, he got it from his coach's comments to the media.
Via the Arizona Cardinals' official website, coach Bruce Arians said he hasn't been pleased with where offensive guard Jonathan Cooper is at this stage of the preseason.
“I’m a little disappointed with where Coop is at right now,” Arians said. “I’d hope he come a little faster.”
This is essentially Cooper's rookie season as the 2013 seventh-overall pick missed all of last year with a broken leg. He has been declared 100 percent healthy for football activities but hasn't been up to speed apparently.
A lot of coaches will use terms, such as "disappointed" in Arians' case, to motivate players. Arians has been referred to as a players coach in the past, so this could be just what Cooper needs to get on the right track. If not, the highly-regarded prospect could find it hard to crack the starting lineup.
