Former Chicago Bears safety Major Wright is joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year contract.
Wright played for Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith and Tampa Bay defensive assistants when he was with the Bears.
He visited the Buccaneers this week.
A 2010 third-round draft pick from Florida, Wright had a career-high 100 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles last season.
He had a career-high four interceptions in 2012 to go along with 71 tackles and eight pass deflections.
"Blessed and grateful to finally get this journey started," Wright wrote on Twitter before his visit. "It's going to be great to see familiar old faces in Tampa."
