Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was served with a grand jury subpoena by the Massachusetts State Police following related to the investigation into former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez following a loss to the Patriots today, according to Sports Illustrated.
Per the report, law enforcement officials are looking into Hernandez's potential involvement in interstate gun trafficking in Massachusetts, New York and Florida.
It's unclear if Pouncey is being investigated for a crime with the report indicating that he's considered a witness to their case against Hernandez.
"Organizationally, we do not have a comment," Dolphins team spokesman Harvey Greene said. "And Mike Pouncey does not have a comment."
Following the game, SI reported that Pouncey was approached outside the locker room and given papers and told: "It's about a grand jury investigation."
Per the report, Pouncey asked officers, "What's this about?" and seemed befuddled.
Hernandez, a friend and former teammate of Pouncey and his twin brother, Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey, at the University of Florida, has been indicted and pleaded not guilty to allegedly murdering Odin Lloyd.
The Pouncey twins lived with Hernandez at Florida.
Following his arrest, the brothers were photographed wearing "Free Hernandez" hats in July with Maurkice Pouncey apologizing and saying: "I regret that my actions appear to make light of that serious situation."
Mike Pouncey hasn't apologized.
