Retired former Chicago Bears wide receiver David Terrell was charged with possession of marijuana and battery against police officers.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, police responded to a call that people were allegedly smoking marijuana and discovered Terrell and two other individuals with "materials to package and distribute narcotics."
Terrell allegedly hit an officer in the hand and "“resisted and attempted to defeat the arrest," with another officer injuring his hand during the arrest..
Terrell, a former University of Michigan standout drafted eighth overall in 2001 by the Bears, was charged with one felony count of manufacture or delivery of 30-500 grams of cannabis, and one misdemeanor count of battery.
He's free on $20,000 bond and assigned a Sept. 3 court date.
Dring the 2004 season, Terrell caught 42 passes for 699 yards and a touchdown.
