The Buffalo Bills haven't lived up to the preseason hype thus far this season with a pedestrian 3-4 record.

But general manager Buddy Nix tells the Buffalo News that Coach Chan Gailey will be back in 2013, despite the disappointing start.

“Yeah, and I hope I can put that to rest,” Nix said Friday. “The age-old thing – and they’ve done it around here for years – is to start over about every three years. What that does is make damn sure you don’t make it. … You change every three years and you never quite get there. That’s my take.”

So Gailey can rest easy for 2013 and perhaps beyond if he can get the Bills on the right track. The defense that was supposed to be scary good has been scary bad at times this season. If Gailey wants to stay long term beyond Nix's vote of confidence, that is an area that must be resolved.
