Jason Babin's desire to play for a contending team were dashed Wednesday when the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed him off waivers, per multiple reports.
Babin was let go by the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday and according to reports, eight different teams put in a claim on the 32-year-old defensive end who is one season removed from an 18-sack campaign.
Babin has just 5.5 sacks this season, and the well-traveled pass rusher now has the AFC South hat trick, having begun his career in Houston and spending a productive 2010 season with the Tennessee Titans.
It's a good gamble by the Jaguars, who are trying anything they can to jumpstart a 2-9 team. Babin won't get his wish to play for a contender, though, unless the Jags can somehow put the pieces together quickly enough to be competitive in 2013.
