Sean McVay is a very young offensive coordinator.
At age 27, he's placed himself on the fast track for being an NFL coach. But perhaps the inexperience and youth is one reason why McVay won't have playcalling duties as Washington's offensive coordinator duties this season.
In an interview with ESPN.com, McVay said head coach Jay Gruden will call plays on game days with McVay coaching the quarterbacks. However, McVay, who was a wide receiver at Miami (Ohio) not too long ago, will still have input in other areas on offense.
McVay coached Redskins tight ends from 2011-2013 before receiving the promotion when Gruden was hired. Gruden was last the offensive coordinator with the Cincinnati Bengals.
