Joe Flacco is signed, sealed and delivered as the Baltimore Ravens quarterback with a $120.6 million deal over the next six years.
But agent Joe Linta, who secured that contract for Flacco, says the Ravens were unwise not to re-up Flacco after the 2011 season.
Linta tells USA Today that the impasses was over about "$1 million six years from now, in the base salary non-guaranteed money, and they walked away," Linta said. "It cost them $35 million. So I have no sympathy. None.
"I've never in my life seen a dumber move. I guess people can say, 'Well, Joe was dumb, too.' It could have been (dumb), God forbid, if he got hurt. But $1 million to Steve Bisciotti six years from now? That's like 100 bucks for you or me today.''
Tell us how you really feel, Joe. Nonetheless, in light of how things played out, Linta does have a point regarding the matter, and it all worked out in his client's favor, thanks to his efforts in the playoffs this year that resulted in the Ravens hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
