The Detroit Lions are signing fullback Jed Collins to a one-year contract, the team announced.

The former New Orleans Saints fullback joins the Lions one day after the Saints signed fullback Erik Lorig to a four-year contract.

Collins was a restricted free agent who wasn't tendered after starting the past three seasons for New Orleans.

He rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns for the Saints. He caught 39 passes for 174 yards and four touchdowns for New Orleans.

He'lll be coached by new Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, the former Saints quarterbacks coach.
