The man who allegedly shot and killed Sean Taylor will finally go on trial this summer, nearly six years after the murder of the Washington Redskins safety.
Eric Rivera Jr., 22, will go on trial Aug. 12 in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, according to Cindy Boren of the Washington Post. Rivera is accused of shooting Taylor in a botched burglary attempt.
Taylor died on Nov. 27, 2007, that day after he was shot in his home where he was recovering from a knee injury. Authorities rounded up five men for the crime. Venjah Hunte reached a plea deal with authorities and is already serving time. He is expected to testify against Rivera and three other defendants, who have separate trials.
Usually, the wheels of justice spin a little more efficiently. The bottom line, of course, is that justice ultimately prevails.
