Final numbers on the Calvin Johnson deal are in.

And they are Megatron-sized.

Johnson’s seven-year extension, which turns into an eight-year deal as he was signed through 2012, is worth a total of $132 million. The contract includes guarantees totaling $60 million. To put that in perspective, the maximum value of the contract Vincent Jackson received Tuesday from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was $55 million over five seasons with $26 million guaranteed.

It was a win-win for the Lions, who now have their best player in place for what could amount to the remainder of their career. The deal also creates a cap savings for this season of $9 million, according to Tim Twentyman, who writes for the team’s Web site.

That will give the Lions ample room to now do some shopping. Look for Detroit to make a run at its own linebacker Stephen Tulloch for starters.
