Ian Bunting, the top tight end from the state of Illinois, has committed to Michigan.
The four-star Class of 2014 product from Hinsdale Central High School (Hinsdale, IL) visited Ann Arbor over the weekend and becomes the seventh commitment in the Wolverines' 2014 class, a haul that also includes one of the country's best receivers, Drake Harris.
The 6-6, 210-pounder chose the Wolverines over offers from top programs such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and USC.
Bunting is considered a Top 10-15 tight end nationally and could provide offensive coordinator Al Borges with a valuable commodity for the Wolverines once the offensive star arrives on campus. Borges recently reiterated that tight ends will be an integral part of his pro-style offense, noting that there were a few instances last year when the offense employed three tight ends at the same time.
Michigan already has a nice stable of tight ends led by sophomore Devin Funchess, who led the team in touchdown catches with five in 2012. Sophomore A.J. Williams and incoming freshman Jake Butt also will be in the mix in the fall, while Khalid Hill will arrive in the summer.
