There's no room for basketball in football.
Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday, NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said the NFL will begin penalizing players if they celebrate a touchdown with a dunk over a goal post.
This has become a popular move with many players, including former NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez, who retired after the 2013 season ended. It's also a go-to celebration for Saints tight end Jimmy Graham, with a slew of players dunking footballs over the goal post too.
This will likely create more animosity among some players that like to call the NFL the No Fun League.
Blandino explained that there is actually a rule on the books banning footballs to be used as props during celebrations. Therefore, this will be an enforcement of the rule as opposed to creating one.
