*Ed Reed told a lot of his Ravens teammates that he gave the Ravens every chance to bring him back, but the Texans did everything right and made it an easy business decision for him. He told several teammates “I gave everything I had to this team and I didn't want to leave. Unfortunately it’s just a business decision now."
*From the Ravens’ perspective, losing free agents isn’t the end of the world. But they were hoping to retain Reed. And they are concerned about the loss of Anquan Boldin. They believed Boldin gave their offense a dimension over the middle that could be difficult to replace. The team felt it had no choice but to deal the aging receiver to the 49ers.
*Re-signing Rey Maualuga means the Bengals will keep second year man Vontaze Burfict at weakside linebacker, but team insiders say Burfict’s best position probably is going to be in the middle. The thinking in the organization is that if the Bengals lost Maualuga in free agency, Burfict would slide over to the middle. Eventually, Burfict is likely to move inside.
*Medical concerns about Florida State defensive end Bjorn Werner are driving the stock of the prospect down with the draft a little more than a month off. One source said new information on Werner has concerned clubs and he has a yellow flag for one team. “It's not red but he is yellow and going down.” According to the source, Werner has a previous injury that has not healed properly.
