In the wake of Indianapolis’ 39-33 upset win over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, what’s the correct move? Do we slide the Broncos down the board as a penalty for losing one primetime game on the road in a hostile environment? Do we vault a Colts team that has suffered a home loss to 3-3 Miami and a road defeat to 4-3 San Diego to the top spot?

The correct answer is that we react, but we don’t overreact. This Colts team is legit, but we still wouldn’t take them on a neutral field against a team like New Orleans. Conversely, this Broncos squad isn’t perfect. But we’d still play them on neutral turf against a team like San Francisco.

The numbers in brackets indicate each team’s Power Ranking, which is based on a scale of 1-100. These numbers can be used as a baseline to determine the point spread between any two teams on the list. Keep in mind that these numbers do not account for home field advantage, situational analysis (extra rest, back-to-back road games, divisional rivalries, etc), injuries, weather or public perception. They are merely to be used as a baseline for your initial analysis.
